Leslie Solis Dittfurth's Profile
My grandmother taught me to sew by hand with a needle and thread when I was 6 years old. I remember cutting out a square piece of fabric and folding, cutting, and then sewing it into a pair of pants for my naked plastic cupie doll. It had no hem or waistband and I could barely squeeze it onto the dolls legs but my grandmother must have seen some talent in there because she never held me back in my sewing attempts. By eight years old I was making barbie doll clothes from sewing patterns (mainly using the pictures and diagrams). She taught me to sew on the machine when I was nine (Yelling from the other room, "Slow down!").
All the women in my family know how to sew and are artists in many ways, but I am the only one who is PASHIONATE about fabrics and sewing. :)
Like my grandmother and my mom before me, I have held various jobs throughout my life…
