I've been a professional seamstress (among many other things) in the costume industry for 33 years, making garments and props for theater, movies, TV, commercials, ice shows and even parades. I found a great outlet for my love of handwork by working in a vintage costume house restoring and repairing vintage clothes. And like so many colleagues of mine, I love to make jewelry, too. Oh! And I was once on a reality TV design competition show! I wasn't a contestant, but 1 of 3 professional seamstresses there to assist the competitors. It was dang fun, too!
I have a lifelong love affair with rocks because my mom was always a rock gatherer and that quirk has been passed down to me and my sister both. You can find the three of us together in a dry creek bed with our butts in the air and faces to the ground, looking for any rocks, stones and minerals that catch our eyes. So you can imagine the collection we all have in our homes and gardens! Friends go on vacation, and what do they bring me? A handful of rocks from where they went! I really love that...!
So, for a few years now I've been making jewelry. First, just as gifts for loved ones and myself, then selling at fairs and shows. And my natural choice of medium is gemstones! Showcasing the beauty of the stones is my passion and muse. I don't know the metaphysical properties of the stones, because they all make me happy!
