About

Falling head over heels in love with your grandchildren inspires many good things...in our case, making little wooden blocks personalized with their sweet names. Upon the arrival of our first grand baby, we began the hunt for a safe, organic toy with play value that would last beyond the infant stage. No bells or whistles, no batteries, no plastic to end up cluttering the landfill. That search led us to creating our little workshop!

As a teacher, I'm drawn to open ended toys that provide learning opportunities and develop creativity. Blocks seem to fit the bill perfectly...toys to delight a baby, toddler, and big kids, too. We like to imagine our blocks making a smooth transition from decorating baby's nursery...to stacking fun in the playroom...and eventually as a name plate on their work desk someday. Seriously...who outgrows playing with blocks!?!…

Dave uses local sources of hardwood so we know it's untreated and safe. Everything seems to end up in baby's mouth, so burning the letters with a branding iron keeps teething babies safe from paint, finishes, or plastics. The old-fashioned branding technique is more tedious than laser cutting, but the unique charm it creates makes the effort worthwhile.

Perfection may not exist in this world, but when it comes to making toys for little ones, we believe it's worth aiming for! We round the corners, soften the edges and polish the blocks silky smooth.

When play is done and the child is grown, this is one toy that will stand the test of time and hold some wonderful childhood memories!
