About

After 20 years in the banking world, I discovered the joys of beading.

I took my first jewelry making class about 10 years ago and was instantly hooked. I have tried different techniques over the years (basic stringing, wire work, resin, wire crochet, etc), but when I started bead weaving and working with all those shiny little beads, I knew that's what I wanted to do. The majority of my work is made with Japanese seed beads, Swarovski crystals, Swarovski "pearls", and Czech glass beads.

I am mostly self taught due to the fact that there are not many bead stores in my area.

I have amassed quite a collection of beading books and patterns and have even been able to work from patterns written in other languages! I have been fortunate to have met some bead-weaving experts at various shows and bead shops who have influenced and mentored me over the years. I have tried to do the same when I meet someone who expresses an interest in beading or crafting.

I am very proud of what I have accomplished and I also take great pride in my work. I consistently receive compliments on the quality of my work.

Ideas and inspiration come when I least expect it. A few years ago I did a collection of antique keys which were wrapped in beads using the peyote stitch. My mother had some keys belonging to my grandparents which I thought were beautiful. I made one into a necklace for her and then went searching antique stores for more!

I am currently working on geometric shaped pendants using peyote and cubic right angle weave. I saw a design in a book and knew I wanted to learn how to make all different shapes.

My work is very bead, labor and time intensive. I have some beaded rope necklaces in my etsy shop which took almost 50 hours to make! I bead because I love to bead and am lucky that no matter where we are I can always pack a beading project. I can work on the living room floor, the kitchen table, at the lake, on vacation, etc! I never leave home without my beads!

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy making it!
