J.Emily DeLorge's Profile

About

I grew up on the bayou an hour south of New Orleans in the perfect town of Thibodaux. I spent my childhood climbing the great oak trees, drawing, fishing and playing in the cane fields.

I started making paintings when I resided in the French Quarter gaining inspiration from the street performers, dancers, hustlers, and musicians. I studied graphic design and painting at LSU. I am working and studying with my father, a gunsmith and engraver.

I practice traditional hand engraving. I have also studied with Sam Alfano, Nancy Sharron Collins, and Eve from the Mystic Blue Sign Co. in New Orleans.

I am also a member of the Louisiana Engravers Society.
