Jerry Smith's Profile
Jerry Smith began wood turning in 2003 when his brother, Joe Smith, gave him a lathe. A carpenter by trade, he has always enjoyed working with his hands creating and building useful items for his family. To learn the wood turning craft, Jerry experimented with the lathe through trial and error - with some help from his brother who was already an experienced wood turner. He prefers to work with burls, crotches and unusual pieces of wood. He currently practices his craft from a corner in his home garage, but he has dreams of building a studio dedicated to wood turning in the future.
He is passionate about wood turning and you can find Jerry spending most of his free time in his garage turning another bowl or two.
Jerry has been married 34 years to his wife Linda. He has a daughter and a son who are presently enrolled in college…
