About

JamieDeLong.etsy .com is a unique boutique of custom made clothing and gifts for women and their families. Have fun looking and I hope you find a treasure to enjoy.

Here is the chance to tell you a little bit about myself. My love for fabric, yarn and design started when I was quite young. My first job as a teenager, was at a beautiful fabric store in Birmingham, Michigan, called ‘Stewart Fabrics’. It carried fine imported wools, decorator fabrics and had an exquisite bridal department. Every Saturday morning Mrs. Stewart would hold a meeting where she would have a 15 minute session on ‘what’s in Vogue.’ I loved these tutorials and ate up every word. This is where my love of textiles began.

I went to Michigan State University where I majored in Merchandising Management, with an emphasis in Textiles and Design. My friends at State would always ask me “are you majoring in sewing”? I was always working on some project or creating something. I would even take a bus to a neighboring town to browse at a really cool fabric store I had found.

Well, why I tell you all of this is that 27 years of marriage and 3 children later, I have not changed a bit. I am still majoring in sewing!

Years ago, I struggled with the decision to go back to work, after the birth of my first child. Although I was working in a creative field as a merchandising coordinator for a fine china and gift retailer, I couldn’t fathom leaving her. I had made her baby bedding for her nursery, and decided to share my skills with other moms. With the help of a local high-end children store, called Bellini, I decided to try a home based custom shop sewing and designing from home. I have been making custom baby bedding and home decor ever since.

I am really excited about my little store here at Etsy, to be able to create things that I think are fun and interesting. Have fun looking around my little shop, and know that every item you receive has years of experience behind it and is made with perfection in mind.

Love,
Jamie
