After completing college in Boston with degrees in History, languages, print making and drawing Jan took a job in the Yucatan doing archeological work. This included field drawing and translation into Mayan, English and Spanish. Later, after a brief but enjoyable stint as a teacher in New Orleans, Jan found herself in California making cloaks, then buttons, then jewelry.

Her designs inspired by nature have garnered many awards. Letters of appreciation from Greenpeace, the sea otter designed for the Monterey Aquarium, the graphics and jewelry for the Amazon pink dolphin rescue effort, and "Accent Magazine" silver jewelry design award are but a few…

Jan continues using silver and gold to re-imagine creatures and objects she finds during her extensive travel.

This is a small collection of her early pieces.

Jan Palombo designed and made the items in this store over the past 40 years. Great Falls Metalworks is still a working production studio with a collective of artisans producing the jewelry.
