I love to create, and I especially love working with sterling silver to make classy, comfortable & stylish jewelry for everyday wear. I feel great satisfaction from the thought of making a piece of jewelry that expresses a woman's true spirit. You can see my shop here. https://www.etsy.com/shop/SilverLeafByDana?ref=si_shop

I've dreamed of being a silversmith for most of my life, but didn't do anything about it until a few years ago when life gave me a wake-up call.

Even though I knew I wanted to make jewelry the responsible side of me worked "real jobs" to make money and raise a family, but I was never happy with my jobs. I've never been good at conforming to office rules and regulations, and really disliked the 50 hour work weeks.

So 30 years later I quit my real life job to do what I've always preached to my clients, "go in the direction of your dreams, never give up on them, and you will live the life you've always imagined". Why hadn't I lived the life I always imagined? Why was I working jobs that didn't make me happy?

It's been four years since I left my job and I've pretty much made a new life for myself, thankfully my husband is enduring the journey with me. It's been slow going since we’re pretty much broke, and we've had to let a lot of things go, yet I am truly the happiest I have ever been because I am now living the life I’ve always dreamed about. I am building my supply of tools as I work to create my dream studio. I use and cherish my tools in a way only metalsmiths would understand. It's the best feeling in the world mastering a new skill with a special tool.

Right now I am working hard to find my individual niche, the one that will set me apart from others. I study, observe and experiment; I put forth effort every single day to push myself beyond my comfort zone. I want to learn everything there is to know about working with metal, and can’t wait to get up in the morning to latch onto a new lesson. Soldering and playing with the torch is definitely my favorite part of making jewelry, watching the silver melt into puddles of molten liquid, and adhering metals together takes me to a place where I'm oblivious to everything else.
