My fondest childhood memory is sitting on the kitchen floor knitting with my cousins while my mom and aunt prepared dinner. I was 6 yrs old when they decided to teach us to knit, a technique to keep us quiet. One of my most precious possessions is a navy blue and gray striped scarf that my cousin knit for me that Christmas.
I abandoned knitting for a while when I was a teenager. In my twenties I started up again and made slippers, scarves, wallets and purses as gifts for my friends and family. Recently I have started making fingerless gloves as gifts. The response was overwhelming; all my friends wanted a pair! This is how the idea for JewelKnits sprouted … maybe I should start making them for others.
