Joye's Profile

About

Joye grew up in Bountiful, Utah where she was a very outgoing girl. She loved to spend time being outdoors as much as absolutely possible. Making forts, playing and hiking in the streams, spending time in the canyons, and putting on plays in the back yard using the clotheslines for their theater curtains. As she got older, some of her favorite events were in the arts. Going to plays, music, dance, museums, and arts festivals made her come alive.

The beginning of her journey in jewelry was in 2005. Joye's home was burglarized and all of her jewelry stolen. A friend of hers, who had previously made her a beautiful necklace, encouraged her to learn to make jewelry and because of her inspiration, she took her first class that very next weekend. That was how she found one of her life's biggest passions.

Becoming a rock hound and lapidarist are her newest hobbies. She states, "It's an amazing process of spending time in a beautiful location, finding amazing stones, cut and polish them, then create the jewelry that these beautiful stones were meant for."

Joye has taught classes and loves to teach others to create fun and beautiful jewelry. She has also been a mentor for young adults and helped them get started making jewelry as well as building self esteem.

Joye currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.
