Jo Medvenics' Profile

About

Hello,
My name is Jo and I am a miniaturist.
After a lifetime spent working in a non-arts related profession I returned to my first love - art and I consider my miniature figures to be my artistic expression. I went to art college as a youngster, if I'd started down this route then, I could have peopled a small country by now.

I live and work in Derbyshire UK, very close to the Dolls House Emporium headquarters so lots of inspiration flows round the hills here. Like many others I started in miniatures by building a dollshouse and then became somewhat sidetracked making dressed beds and dolls. These are the two main product lines I feature in my shop.

I hand sculpt my dolls out of polymer clay, each one is individually sculpted, I never use molds. I am interested in producing more unusual figures,…

About

Hello,
My name is Jo and I am a miniaturist.

I am interested in producing more unusual figures, characters who appeal to me personally and which I would be prepared to pay good money for. I am very aware that my customers want to be thrilled with their purchases when they open that package, good is not enough, it has to be VERY good that's why I make sure that my dolls are as detailed and carefully finished off as I can possibly make them. All handcrafted items have their own unique personalities and none more so than my dolls. I like to create unusual characters so don't usually make dolls to order as I need to feel inspired and excited by the type of doll that I am working on - but if you can inspire me with an interesting and unique concept for a miniature doll - lets talk. For these reasons I don't have a website or advertise in dolls house magazines

I alternate my doll making with dressing beds and again I like to create something a little different. I don't do many of these, I wait for the muse to arrive and tap me on the shoulder before I begin a new bed.

Generally I use fine fabrics, silk, natural cotton, leather etc in all my creations but bow down to the demands of the particular item I'm creating. I get many of my supplies from dolls house suppliers and artists here on Etsy - lets share the experience.

Well that a bit (quite a lot actually) about me. Plaese take a look at my shop, items for sale, sold items and feedback to paint the picture around this bio.
