Joy Tate's Profile
Taught by my mother, Ruby, I began sewing in 1961. Designing doll clothes quickly evolved to designing clothing for myself & my four sisters. As a young woman I worked in a local sewing factory and quickly moved up to the fastest on the line. For each of my children I enjoyed hand making the things that surrounded them: unique baby blankets and quilts, clothes and dolls. I even hand-smocked my daughter's dresses. Later in life I worked along side interior decorators sewing custom slip covers, decorative pillows, curtains and other home accessories.
My love for creating new things in fabric was rekindled with the birth of my granddaughters, Ella, Josephine, and Indigo Belle. I once again found myself at the machines creating one of a kind for their nurseries, wardrobes and mamas.
All of this passion has led me here, to Etsy in this…
