About

I delight in botanical elegance. With tiny glass beads, and new and recycled textiles, I hand-stitch intimate impressions of the shapes, patterns, and colors of the world around me. I call my process "painting with beads." Each series of “paintings” is a tribute to the beauty and enchantment of nature.

Living and working in Northern Minnesota for over 20 years gave me time to know it’s shorelines, forest trails, and gardens where flowers gesture, trees reach, water moves. I create art that nourishes the spirit through a connection to nature, the abundant variety, peace, and beauty of this place.

My passion for beads started when I used them to embellish garments with local flora and fauna. I decided that if I could bead a flower then I could bead a tree. Why not the whole forest? It's a patient process. I choose and stitch one bead at a time. Each "paintings" is a product of heart and hand.

See more of my original bead "paintings" on my website at www.jowoodbeads.com or join me for one of the workshops also listed on my site.

This world is our home, a home we share. We take up space. We leave our mark. Move slowly. Find meaning and balance. Be inspired.
