In grade school, I remember learning to spool-knit and finger-weave. I used to work on my projects endlessly, creating cords and chains that stretched the width of rooms and more! My mother-in-law taught me one crochet stitch when I was 21 and I loved it! I taught myself all the other stitches I make, as well as pattern-reading.
I have always enjoyed crafting and mathematics. I find that now when I crochet, I use mathematics a lot in pattern design and motif creation. I have a lot of fun using different colors and modifying patterns to make them my own.
In fact, I rarely follow patterns, and enjoy using books and libraries of stitches to create my items, such as afghans, ponchos, scarves, and other housewares!
