Jodi Bauter's Profile

About

I was born in beautiful historic Savannah, Georgia and I had attended and graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Illustration.

Some major influences in my work have been that I grew up around horses on a small farm in Georgia and have always had a fascination with the beauty of nature, horses and other animals. My sense of spirituality has also played a big part in the progression of my talent.

I find commission artwork to be very challenging because I want my clients to be happy. But once I have one completed and the client is satisfied, I can relax and enjoy what I have accomplished. Pet portraits are difficult because you have to capture the essence of the animal. That one particular look, or the way it's eyes are set. The process is always a learning experience…

The process is always a learning experience.

I would describe my other work, to be as my own personal style. I am not sure where to categorize it but colorful and sometimes whimsical may describe it. Horses are my favorite subject. Thus, I am an equine artist. Sometimes I am inspired by other artists work, or food. Beauty is everywhere. You just have to know what you want to put on the canvas or paper.

After graduating from college, I had taken a short hiatus from art career in order to start and raise a family. Slowly, I have picked up my pencil and paint brushes in order to resume the creation of more works of art. Which lead me to open my Etsy store. I didn't put a lot of effort into at first, but in the past year or so I have added more works and added social media and a blog to help bring in exposure.

My favored style and techniques are watercolor, realistic graphite pencil renderings and ink stippling technique, which uses a pattern of dots, in order to render intricate animal or nature designs, then I add color using watercolor paints and sometimes colored inks. I have more recently be playing with colored pencils. This medium has the bright vibrants colors that I enjoy.

In the past, I have been invited to attend the very prestigious Annual Grand National Art Show and Sale at the Cow Palace in San Francisco California, where I enjoyed meeting many of the other wonderful artists and seeing all the beautiful works of art, with mine sitting right next to theirs was the best feeling I could have.

I also have displayed art work at the annual juried art competition at the Georgia National Fair and displayed art work at the Women and Horses Expo. in Sedalia, Missouri, at the state Fair Ground and won first place in graphite devision.

I have done individual art commissions over the years, and I am hoping this year proves to be another good year for commissions, shows and competitions.

I show in the watercolor, acrylic and graphite pencil artist divisions and I am very proud to be apart of these wonderful events where I can share my art with so many other people. I look forward to many more art show opportunities to come.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my store here on Etsy!

Best Regards,

Jodi Bauter
