Twisted Fleur de Lis' Profile
My metalworking was learned the hard way at a shipyard in Slidell, LA during summer breaks from college. The "Hurricane Katrina Collection" was inspired by the devastating results of the storm surge on my hometown of Slidell, LA and the region. These pieces were a means to react to this disaster and channel energy in a positive manner. Many were sold to raise funds and awareness for victims of Katrina that were fellow Slidell schoolmates through the Slidell Alumni Hurricane Relief Fund. The use of destructive force is a method that I often employ to create and have taken that to the extreme on some of my pieces. Some pieces are twisted to suggest the extreme rotational energy of the hurricane.
I did evacuate New Orleans the evening before the storm while visiting from Colorado but I am not a victim and didn't…
