About

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA where I currently reside with my wife Maria.

Beginning at age 13, I suffered and was very sick with ulcerative colitis. 10 years with the illness led to cancer and I had life saving surgery. I recall the priest giving me last rights and my mother crying at my bedside. I prayed to live and do something meaningful with my life. The surgery was successful and I now wear a permanent ileostomy.

While recovering at home I started reading art books. They inspired me to get creative since I did not have much strength to do much else at that time. I started painting and used any kind of paint my father had in the garage! As I produced more art people started buying my work.

I create my paintings on canvas with enamels and sand (from the Monongahela River). Many of the commissioned pieces include special sand from the customer.

People I meet, current events and that little thing called "life" inspire me. Many of my paintings have been reproduced as Limited Edition prints which are available here on Etsy.

Five of my prints are part of the Pittsburgh Collection at the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Three of those five were commissioned by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

My "Hollyhocks" print was part of the set of Will & Grace on NBC, the final episode.

The following original paintings can be found on public display:

1. Heinz Field-The Pittsbrgh Steelers office lobby at Heinz Field.
2. Adam Taliaferro-Miracle in the Making-Penn State Sports Museum.
3. Jim "Soupy"Campbell-U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis,MD.
4. Jim Campbell-Steel Valley High School-Pgh., PA.
5. Carnegie Library of Homestead-Carnegie Library in Munhall, PA.
6. Colors of Carson Street-South Side,PA.
7. 41st Pres.George H.W. Bush Portrait- The George Bush Presidential Library & Museum at Texas A&M.
8. My NEW Pittsburgh skyline painting "The Point" is part of the set of show Pittsburgh Today Live on KDKA TV 2 http://www.kdka.com/ptl

I donate my art, and work with many local and national charities raising much needed funds for their causes with my art. It is important for me to "give back". My art enables me to help others in a unique way.

I simply did not plan any of this. All I had was the will to live, to do well and help others. I have been healthy and happily painting for 27 years. I am so grateful for this fantastic ride!
