Judy McElwee's Profile

About

After graduating from College I worked as a registered nurse. Later I went into the field of Research for HIV/AIDS. Even while working I did a lot of arts and crafts. For many years I have made jewelry and sold it in a couple of upscale jewelry stores in New England. I have also made quilts for many years from lap to king size. I donated a large amount of breast cancer jewelry with all procceds going to research. I have also donated to the Go Red for Women for women with rare heart disease to honor my sister-in-law. My last big charity project was making jewelry and lap quilts for an underprivilged nursing home. I needlepoint, draw, work with sculture clay, and dye my own quilt fabric. I love to work family photos and other items into what is called "steam punk art." Every piece is unique as it is handmade and every piece has been crafted with care to ensure quality.

About two years ago I was diagnosed with a very rare terminal disease called Dysautonomia. Compounded with 40 year of degenerative disk disease and multiple surgeries I am now nearly 90% bedfast. I no longer can do many of the crafts which I so enjoyed. My husband has made me an over the bed work table so as my pain and energy levels allows I still work on some of my smaller crafts/hobbies. About a year ago, I became interested in collecting Sea Glass. I have Sea Glass all over the house purchased from two of the famous websites. I collect the very famous Charles Horner hatpins and Special vintage coke bottles. I also collect Gingher designer scissors a few of which I've include in this shop. This gives me a chance to share my valued collections, set fair prices on them and share them with others. The ONLY reason I opened this shop was to begin to rid out some of my "museum" so my precious husband and very loved daughter don't have to deal with getting rid of ALL these collectibles. I still have many other things yet to add as I am physically able. In addition to profits going to my 3 favorite charities, I am also sending goods and money to the Harvey & Irma disaster victims. So please help me help others. This site is not intended for my profit making what so ever!

That is my story, come and visit my shop: LexieGracesTreasures...Lexie Grace is our precious 3 year old poodle, who looks after me every day in my illness.
So please buy and enjoy my Treasures.
Blessings, Judy
