About

In every aspect of every painting there are two things that are important to me: The first is the power of expression, style and quality, and the second is that my art needs to make people happy.

I also believe the role of an artist --- in any medium --- is to call attention to subjects and moments that often go unnoticed. When I paint, it is because something has evoked in me a highly personal response that I try to share with others. When people view my paintings, I hope they are encouraged to think and feel with more introspection.

I was born in 1965 in Riverside, California. During my childhood, my family moved frequently, finally settling in beautiful Lake Tahoe. Even as a child, I saw beauty in everything and spent many hours drawing and painting the world around me. While still in high school in 1981, I met my husband. We…

We attended The University of California at Davis, where I took my very first art classes. Then I knew I needed to paint. When my husband joined the Air Force, I began my professional career. In 21 years, we have moved 13 times and have lived all over the world. Traveling has greatly influenced my art; I have painted every place we have lived. I paint every day, enter exhibitions and art shows while I continue my studies, including The Corcoran School of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C.. There, I was privileged to have great teachers who provided me a solid foundation in portraiture and landscape painting which are at the heart and soul of my style.

I began daily painting in 2002, and as my online business has grown over the years, I have come to enjoy creating for people worldwide. I paint every day, and when I am not painting, I am thinking about painting. Each morning I load my palette with paint, turn my music on shuffle, and paint! Every painting is original, and often inspired by my travels. Apart from my too-infrequent vacations to Italy or France, my husband's military career moved our family of four 17 times in only 23 years. Our marriage of over 25 years brings much of the romance into my work. I close my eyes and open my heart as I imagine each new piece, and transposing my imagined images onto canvas brings me infinite joy every single day. I hope my work will bring you as much joy and inspiration as it brings me.

I am a friendly artist, and if you do not see exactly what you want in my shop, I am always available to discuss special orders. I paint commissions regularly for designers, galleries, shops, and individuals, so please contact me if you have something specific in mind! Shoot me a message anytime. I'll help you decorate your home with unique, affordable works of art. Don't hesitate to ask about layaway or a special payment plan for your order, big or small. If a painting you like suddenly vanishes from my Etsy store, it has sold elsewhere, and was removed. I would be happy to re-paint it for you, but know that paintings can be reserved to avoid this. Get in touch! I would love to hear from you.

Although painting is my passion, my family is my blessing and joy. Married to the same wonderful man for over 25 years, we have two gifted daughters. I wonder as they mature if art will consume them the way it has me. I use to drag them to art museums, now they sometimes ask to go. Only time will tell where their passions will lead…It would make me proud if they pursued a career in the arts. However, my greatest hope is that they find the same joyful passion in their lives that as I have found in my family and art.

Because “a thing of beauty is a joy forever,” I hope my paintings touch you, bring you a smile, and help you reminisce of a special time or place in your life. I love Etsy because it gives me a way to reach many people rather than just those who shop in art galleries.
