Kat Allison's Profile
I am a traditionally trained craftsman and I have been practicing my craft for more than 50 years. The big benefit of fine craft is that one technique tends to lead to another, and over the years I have been a quilter, a dressmaker, a beader, a metal smith, a potter, a weaver, a dyer of fabric and yarn, a paper maker and a printer. Teaching is an obligation for the traditionally trained craftsman, and it has been a joy to pay the gift forward.

I tend to look at all the other craft techniques as another way to use fiber--sheet metal and wire are surfaces where I can use fiber techniques, my paper is one more fiber to play with, fabric pressed into unfired clay leaves a wonderful image. Process is my passion, and fiber lends itself to many processes. I invite you to visit my web page at…
