About

Having grown up in Cornwall, I went to Falmouth School of Art and Design before doing my textile degree at De Montfort University in Leicester, where I developed my own style of working with stitched handmade paper on the surface decoration course.

About

Having grown up in Cornwall, I went to Falmouth School of Art and Design before doing my textile degree at De Montfort University in Leicester, where I developed my own style of working with stitched handmade paper on the surface decoration course.

After a period of working on other design projects, I developed new ideas and techniques in my work, which is now based on wild, but fragile, plant forms and animals. I have exhibited thoughout the UK and have work in the Hertfordshire County Arts collection.

I make my own paper, which is recycled from printers off-cuts and office waste, then dried and dyed in small batches. The designs are then pieced together in sections, then stitched on to a backing of calico or organdie. Pictures are worked into at this stage. I paint into the design or add pure stitchwork for extra depth and detail. Finally, the backing fabric is quilted by hand and the picture is then ready to be mounted and framed.

I am now based in the beatiful cathedral city of Salisbury with my husband who is an author and my two little girls.
