About

Welcome to Keiks Designs! I am a sculpture artist working mostly with stained glass. I create fused glass jewelry as well as stained glass sculptures. I also create art dresses inspired by my sculptural bodies of work.

About Me!
I have a BFA in Sculpture and a BA in Theatre Design and Technology (Costumes and Lighting). I live in Minneapolis, MN sewing costumes and making glass sculptures. During college I took the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy and got to study mosaics and sculpture. This experience has influenced my work and strengthened my passion for stained glass. I strive to push the boundaries of glass as a sculptural medium using the Tiffany method of construction (copper foil and solder).

About the Sculptures!
In my sculptural works, I love to create illusionary spaces with mirror and light and glass. As a child I would walk around the house with a mirror under my nose that I peered into. This created the illusion that I was walking on the ceiling, so I'd walk from room to room jumping over archways and bumping into furniture. I was always curious about the person on the other side of the looking glass. And so with my sculptures I strive to create curious spaces with light and color. When these sculptures are seen in person, you can literally see yourself within the abstracted spaces created with mirrors and glass. Truly a unique experience for anyone to enjoy!

About the Jewelry!
I create one-of-a-kind handmade fused glass jewelry. I look at each piece as a separate composition so there are never two created exactly alike though sometimes similar. That being said I can gladly create duplicate sets of earrings, necklaces or bracelets for you. Or if you don't see something you were specifically looking for but like my style; message me with a description of your desired item and I'd happily create it for you! Just message me for a custom order.

Here's a little bit about the types of glass I use and the process. I use many different kinds of glass to make my jewelry but the most eye catching jewelry is made with Dichroic glass. There is a large variety of Dichroic glass but all are very shiny, bright, and iridescent. This type of glass is not cheep ergo the higher expense of the finished pieces. But once you own a piece of dichroic jewelry, you'll never take it off again because of how many complements you'll receive! This type of glass is definitely worth the cost!

In most of my firings I use a tack fuse during the firing process. This means that the glass is fired at a slightly lower temp so that the layers of glass don't fully fuse together leaving texture and dimension in the glass.

I've got a couple extra sites that show my stained glass work. If interested in a custom stained glass window or mosaic please don't hesitate to message me. Please check out my sites linked below.
