Kirstie's Profile

About

I'm Kirstie (aka Kirst, KirstieKrafts, Smurfett and a bundle of other things). I live in Tayport with my other half, in a house full of felt, buttons, computer bits and Terry Pratchett books, and only three out of four are my fault. I love making things, drawing, reading (almost anything) and playing Minecraft. I collect shiny things and old buttons and drink far to much tea....

As a child I was always obsessed with fabric, and as I got older ths grew to include most Arts and Crafts. I ended up studying Computer Art at Abertay University, and although I graduated with a BA, it was very clear this wasnt for me. My uni years had almost squashed the crafty spirit out of me, but my best friend re-kindled this by dragging me reluctantly to a fabric shop in Edinburgh. My uni years had almost squashed the crafty spirit out of me, but my best friend re-kindled this by dragging me reluctantly to a fabric shop in Edinburgh. Once inside, the 3year old girl that used to wrap herself in net curtains whilst pretending to be a fairy surfaced again (I dont still do this...well maybe) and voila....Kirstiekrafts was born.

I'm currently going through an unhealthy obsession with Pop Tarts (if you eat a different flavour at each meal, it's ok...right?). Although that is more than likely what inspired me to start up my Facebook page and this shop. I love felt, buttons and small beads, but I'm always willing to give a new challenge a try. I'm also a huge believer in re-cycling and up-cycle and hate binning anything that may have a second use. I try and source what I can locally, with a lot of my buttons and some of my fabric being either donations or charity/thrift shop finds. If you want to know anything else, please feel free to get in touch.

I have a blog, Facebook and Twitter, I also love Pintrest and Cut Out and Keep.
