About

At KNITCESSITY, you will find handknits and yarns in the best natural fibers. If you enjoy the superior softness, beauty and warmth of merino wool, baby alpaca, cashmere, silk ... and even the more exotic camel hair, yak and llama, then KNITCESSITY is the shop for you.

My mother taught me to knit when I was a child. She in turn had learned this skill from my grandmother, so knitting has been in my family for three generations. Making things brings me tremendous satisfaction .... I love how knitting and crochet can create sculptural, 3-dimensional forms without cutting or sewing. I have so many ideas rattling around in my brain, and so many amazing yarns that I decided to open an Etsy store to give life to them. With my two hands, some needles or hook and string, something beautiful and functional can be born. How wonderful is that?…

How wonderful is that?

Many of my yarns are sourced from the same Italian and Scottish mills that supply major couture houses and designer labels for their knitwear collections. I also source some of my yarns from small farms that organically and humanely raise their animals in the United States. Without exception, I guarantee that all of my materials are top quality and best in the industry.

This season, I'm concentrating on designing super warm knits for my customers. Having spent over 18 years living in three major cities with harsh winters (New York City, Toronto and Boston), I know from personal experience how awesome it is to be wrapped up in a thick, warm hat and cowl when the mercury drops! I now live in the South, but even here the winters are chilly enough to call for toasty hats and woolly accessories.

All of my hand knits come from my smoke free and pet free studio. They are of my own original design. I hope that you like what you see among my listings and that you will return often to check out my new creations.

WHY NATURAL FIBERS?

Mother nature knows best. Natural fibers such as alpaca, wool, cashmere, silk ... B R E A T H E. They keep you warm without overheating, and don't trap moisture to make you feel wet and clammy. They are a natural, renewable resource. Do yourself a favor this winter. Steer away from the acrylics and go for something luscious, soft and warm like baby alpaca, silk and extrafine merino wool ... You'll be so glad you did!

To keep this venture fresh and fun, for my hand-dyed yarns, a particular colorway will not be reproduced exactly and all dye lots are unique creations. Therefore please purchase sufficient yarn for your intended project.
