It never ceases to amaze me how many different things you can paint on. For example, I first discovered foam mannequins when I was 7. My folks had gone out for the evening and my siblings weren't too keen on the idea of entertaining me so I did it myself with my mother's styrofoam wig stand. Needless to say, she wasn't thrilled to come home to find I'd used all her make-up, including her good lipstick, to create my masterpiece. Since then, I've tried painting on just about everything I can get my hands on, including rocks, bouys, metal washers, walls, the floor...there's just too much fun to be had.

I'd like to think of myself as sort of an "unexpected alchemist." If you think about it, we're all alchemists when we recycle. We may not be discovering the 'elixer of life' but we are taking every day objects of little value (empty/used tin food cans, soda bottles, junk mail, cardboard boxes such as pasta and mailing boxes, car tires, etc.) and having them recycled into useful consumer products, which helps all life on our planet.
One of my personal goals is to take this one step further by being one of the increasingly resourceful people who take some of these "discarded/unwanted" items, such as wood, metal, glass, etc., and 'transform them' into useful works of art rather than having them end up as trash in one of the many overflowing landfills.
