I started creating clothing when I was in High School and have sewed for myself and my family since then. About that same time, I found a book on knitting and crocheting. Using that book, I taught myself to knit and crochet.
My Mother was willing to buy whatever I needed for my sewing as long as "the inside was a nice as the outside". In other words, she wanted to be able to turn the dress inside out to wear and it would be just as nice. I quickly learned finishing techniques.
About 25 years ago, I started selling at craft shows, practicing for and learning about the job I wanted for my retirement years. Now I'm retired and enjoying sewing and knitting along with gardening and home improvements.
