To honor the craft of spinning, La Lana uses only the finest fibers. We find natural plant dyes to be the most beautiful. All of our yarns, felts, and fibers are hand-dyed using plants native to New Mexico and exotic dyes of antiquity.

Our dyeing philosophy is to prepare the fibers and dyes to the best of our ability and let Serendipity take over. We are also big fans of Random Factors and Textures. Your yarns will reflect these interests and will be unique.

How It All Began...

During my travels in Bolivia, I sat down with the women in the marketplace and learned to hand spin Alpaca on a drop spindle. When the time came to dye my handspun yarns, I felt they deserved more than a pinch of powder.

'The dye was cast' so to speak, and so began my great handspinning and plant dyeing adventure. For over thirty years, La Lana Wools has produced some of the Fiber World's finest products from our breathtaking location in the Southern Rockies of Taos, New Mexico. Now that our Brick & Mortar shop has closed, you can only visit us virtually - immerse yourself in a Fiber Fiend’s Paradise.
