About

Making a pine needle basket is creative process. First there is the hunt for those perfect pine needles. Many of my baskets are made with local Ponderosa Pine needles. Longleaf Pine needles from the southern part of the US are also used in my baskets. In addition, I grow Supershamanistic Sweetgrass for use in my baskets as it provides a wonderful texture and aroma.
The method of gathering needles, sorting and preparing them for my secret soaking solution makes the preparation of the needles a fun adventure with a lot of work mixed in. Additional materials are gathered for embellishments such as rock or wooden centers, beads, threads, and black walnut slices. Finally, there is the skill and patience used to coil each basket.
No two baskets created are alike!
