My mother taught me to sew. I remember her perfect tiny stitches, how she took the time to press and baste and measure. She was good with a machine, but I have always enjoyed hand sewing. Both my grandmothers and all of my great-grandmothers were skilled with any type of needle or hook. It is from these women in my history that I draw upon when I create my own handwork pieces.

I enjoy making small things, accessories, little flourishes with surprising touches. Many of my materials are vintage items handed down through my generations. These pieces of lace, ribbons and buttons inspire me to create one of a kind pieces, each with a special character. It gives me a thrill to take something old and make it into something new!

Of course, once in a while, I come across a vintage piece that is already perfect and I will offer those items to you…
