About

When I was little, one of my favorite things to do was play dress-up. I used to love to put on my mother’s then-enormous shoes, makeup, gloves and other accessories. My favorite pieces were always her vintage hats. From those luscious fur-trims to those delicate bird-cage veils (that I would wear while pretending I was getting married!), her hats always brought the most fun.

I would sometimes pretend I was a character in one of mom’s recorded classic films; the heroin that the hero sought, or the mysterious figure that all eyes were drawn towards. I guess I never outgrew that lovely feeling those glamorous hats gave me.

I started creating fascinators/half-hats/mini-hats. I honestly cannot tell you where this came from. I just started shopping vintage one day and decided to start making them. I glean inspiration from so many things; from my friend’s vintage…

I started creating fascinators/half-hats/mini-hats. I honestly cannot tell you where this came from. I just started shopping vintage one day and decided to start making them. I glean inspiration from so many things; from my friend’s vintage Etsy store, magazines, people, life. I live to absorb this inspiration… never to imitate or copy someone else’s genius or talent. I sit down; start creating, then something surprising results.

One of my favorite song lines is, “I have lived so many lives, though I’m not old” (Nelly Furtado – Try). I know this is true for me. In my 33 years, I have most definitely lived so many lives. I have had the privilege to enjoy so many seasons in my life – and I anticipate the most beautiful ones that are yet to come.

I had the honor of living in Belize, Central America for one year and also in Bangalore, India for four years over a five-year span. I had the pleasure of working alongside some of the most amazing souls and experiencing some of the most magnificent cultures.

Someone shared something with me once, about those who live abroad for a season. “It’s as if you are a yellow person (from America) living in a blue world (India). You are no longer yellow (American), you’re definitely not blue (Indian)… you are now green. :) I hope that I can glean the best of both of these radical worlds that have so rocked my soul and I hope all of the inspirations from these many lives are expressed fervently from my work to you!
