About

Creating art has always been part of my life ...just as important as eating and sleeping and sometimes more!
I am a self-taught artist and over the years I have enjoyed working with children in a variety of programs- Montessori school, Public School programs, summer Nature workshops in the park as well as my big backyard - my favorite studio! Although I was fortunate enough to go back to school when my first grandchild came into the world and as an old "hippie" I finally got my BFA - I'm still a "starving artist". It truly is a labor of love. And a source of great joy.
Growing up in NYC during the seventies it was exciting to visit the wonderful little "hippie" shops in "The Village",take a trip up to Woodstock or visit the booths full of unique handmade treasures at the country fairs. We spent every summer on a family commune in the Catskill mountains where we were encouraged to use our imaginations…

Creating art has always been part of my life ...just as important as eating and sleeping and sometimes more!

We spent every summer on a family commune in the Catskill mountains where we were encouraged to use our imaginations. Coloring books were not allowed! Hand-me-downs were treasured and so were the hand knitted gifts we got for birthdays & Christmas. It is this background that has inspired my shop here on Etsy. I am passionate about color, nature and recycling. This passion is reflected in what I present here. My specialties are needle felted creations, handpainted apparel, crocheted items, vintage clothing and other goodies inspired by the "flowerchild" in me.
About the eyes - I have had quite a few inquiries about what inspires them and ...I really don't know! For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by eyes. I believe that eyes can speak volumes and more often the truth. After many years of creating eyes in a variety of mediums, I discovered the art of needle felting here on etsy. I purchased some wool and needles and after breaking quite a few needles as well as pricking my fingers often ...I taught myself how to do it. After felting this, that and the other thing, I felted an eye. I liked it. A wonderful lady here on etsy discovered it. She liked it too and with her encouragement many more were created and discovered and now they are out in the world ...seeing the magic that is everywhere!
