About

Hi! I'm Tree, and I love that you might be checking out my shop! I started making my own eye masks for sleeping after I couldn't find one that fit my face perfectly, AND kept out the light. I used to get migraines, and was very frustrated when I couldn't get it completely dark with an eye mask on. I also used to have problems sleeping when I worked for someone else, and had to get up at 4:30am, and with my little ones waking me up at night, I used to have trouble falling back to sleep...their nightlights would feel like a light was shining in my face! I used to love to sleep with the covers over my head, ever since I was little...but after awhile, I'd have to peek my nose out to get fresh air...but I don't have to do that anymore! I have no more problems falling asleep if my husband is still watching tv, or if I want to sleep in, the morning sun no longer wakes me up! After I started creating more and more, I was told that I…

I have no more problems falling asleep if my husband is still watching tv, or if I want to sleep in, the morning sun no longer wakes me up! After I started creating more and more, I was told that I should sell them, so I did! And now I am designing my own fabrics to be used on my eyemasks! So check back for when those will be complete!

As of the fall 2012...this is what I wrote:

I began this adventure awhile ago in 2010, after encouraging my sister to sell her jewelry on etsy (asherandlulu), and I finally joined the Handmade Dayton Etsy Team last fall, after facing my fears! I'm not sure what I was afraid of, other than I guess people not liking my product! I soon got over that, met a ton of really talented people, and planned on starting out the 2012 year in full swing of eyemask sewing, more craft fairs to go to, and joined several groups around town to get as much info as possible for shows and selling. Little did I know that my plans would be put on hold for 9 months this past year...several things have been going on that made me wonder if I should even bother doing this anymore...
On Jan 14, 2012, my beautiful Brittany Spaniel, Riley, was hit by a car and died, and when I went running after him, I slipped on the ice and broke my wrist, on my right hand which is my dominant hand...I required several weeks in a splint/cast, and Occupational hand Therapy was necessary to get movement and full range of motion back in my arm, I had severe soft tissue damage and severe pain. Along with this came a bout of depression, as you can imagine I had big dreams of designing my own fabric, and finally getting my own fabric for my eyemasks, which I planned to market to hospital gift shops, unique stores around town, etc. I started to think this all happened for a reason and even though my therapy was over by May, I lost my inspiration, and had to turn my thoughts to a new obstacle...My older sister, age 42 who lives in Florida, was diagnosed with stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. Surgery was done, and chemo began...I wanted to do something to help her and get the word out, and felt lost for what to do...
I guess the next stage of my story is a bit karma like...I had left approx 25 eyemasks at a location here in town that was set to sell items before the holidays last year, and I was to get them after the new year. I totally forgot after my accident...thought about here and there, and planned on stopping by at some point. I contacted her 2 weeks ago and told her to keep my eyemasks to donate to patients (IT was a Family Therapy Center). I woke up the next morning and had been contacted by a woman who owns a shop in Harrison, OH, The Younique Boutique, and said she would love to have my eyemasks at her store! This woke up the sleeping designer in me, and my drawing and inspirations of what to do next had been non-stop! In honor of my sister Mary, and because September happens to be National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, I am dedicating my designs to be influenced by the color TEAL or similar shades of Teal...I also plan on donating a portion of my sales this month to the non-profit organization. I have big plans on what to do next, but right now, it's baby steps getting started again, as there are other big things happening for my family right now...That was my last entry as my husband and kids and I moved to FL Nov 2012 to help my sister...who passed away sadly in July 2013.

So as of July 2014, I recently moved back to Dayton, OH in April, and having time to get back into this again, and more support than ever before, I decided to open my shop up again...under a new name (I previously was going by Liah Loves Luna) but i plan on offering more items, sugar body scrubs, refurbished items, and my own designs on fabric.

So, after staring for years at the plaque on my desk that reads: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams" I am excited to open The Ivory Treehouse, where inspirations are made!
