About

Hello! My name is Liz and I am a woodcut artist and a librarian.

My work is inspired by science, nature and the city I live in. My woodcuts are cut by hand on birch veneer plywood blocks and printed with a wooden spoon using oil based inks and thin, Japanese paper. I call myself the "librarian artist" because I work both in the library field and as an artist. I am an Assistant Lab Technician at a paper conservation lab where I perform preliminary treatment and repairs on works of art on paper and paper archives. Every day at the lab I find connections between the conservation work I am doing and my work as an artist. My knowledge of the visual arts informs my lab work, and the conservation work, in turn, inspires my creativity!

I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa where I focused on sculpture, printmaking and drawing. I moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas at Austin's School of Information and received my Masters of Science in Information Studies.

I hope you enjoy looking at my artwork and please let me know if you would like something created just for you! I love making custom items for people!

I am a proud member of Austin Craft Riot Team!
