Raegan Belew's Profile

About

My name is Raegan and I've been in love with art for as long as I can remember. Every year for Christmas or for my birthday my parents were sure to encourage my artistic endeavors with gifts of colored pencils, drawing pads, sewing essentials and other such supplies. They even gave me my first sewing machine:)

I discovered music festivals when I was about 16 years old and fell in love with all of the handmade goods that people were creating, selling, and trading on tour. Those early shows were the catalyst (along with tons of support & encouragement from family & friends) for me to embark on my own independent journey to artistic expression! Once I discovered that I had a knack for sewing, I never looked back.

As I learned to sew I taught myself the art of patchwork and I absolutely love this type of craftsmanship. The combination of colors, textures, sizes and prints is endless and seeing a completed piece with all of these elements working together makes me smile. I have always been drawn to this type of creativity and I incorporate patchwork into almost all of my items.

Over the years I've also become intensely drawn to ethnic fabrics such as batik and indonesian hand-dyed materials, and you'll see much of these in my shop. I'm always looking forward to being able to travel to places such as India and Asia to buy directly from the artisans who create these beautifully crafted materials, helping to support fair trade practices. I also really love vintage fabric and salvaged materials...creating new items from old pieces.

I am forever gaining inspiration from music, nature, and most of all my beautiful daughter Lilah who is the absolute love of my life. I am extremely passionate about sustainability, wildlife, animals, the environment and promoting all things "green" :) I hope to inspire others to take these things into consideration as well...
