MJ Ferguson's Profile

About

Lilith Pearl is the free-spirited child of the sixties and seventies. She loves vintage linen and antique lace, paired with ripped and distressed blue jeans, fingerless gloves in the winter and a great pair of worn boots or barefoot in the summer!

She’s romantic with a bit of a rock-n-roll edge. Her inspiration has been Stevie Nicks since the age of 13 when she first saw her on T.V. in concert with Fleetwood Mac, many, many moons ago.

Her name “Lilith” came from the traveling festival celebrating women in music called Lilith Jam, and “Pearl” is from the iconic album Janis Joplin last created. It's a name that fits her perfectly.

Lilith Pearl loves a crescent moon in a dark still sky, a lone leafless tree set on a single hill within a winter fog, and dark rich coffee in the early morning light. She believes blue butterflies appear as a sign of good luck, cherishes the number 210, wishes upon the “Nana” star and refers to all crows as “Clancy.”

She fancies antique buttons, old shawls, tattered linen, anything with fringe, tarnished brass, distressed velvet, time-worn tambourines, black antique umbrellas, old suitcases, steampunk accessories, the bohemian style, the hippie spirit, the lifestyle of a gypsy, and the vagabond tattered-and-torn look.

Then there’s me, the shop owner…my name is MJ Ferguson and Lilith Pearl is my alter ego. I’m an artist living on a wooded acreage, in a valley, next to a whispering creek in Ames, Iowa. (Yes, Iowa.) I’ve always worked as an artist in mixed-media and altered art, however it wasn’t until over a year ago that I moved from paper and glue to fabric and a vintage sewing machine. It’s what I’ve been searching for in my artwork all along.

After being stopped and asked so many times where I got a shirt, a purse, a piece of jewelry, I decided to open up a shop and share my love with others.

So...welcome to my online venue of Lilith Pearl Vintage Were. Inside you will find 60’s & 70’s vintage styled clothing, handbags, jewelry and more; many of which have been upcycled (or altered). Layer anything you find on this site with ripped and distressed jeans and/or a perfect pair of worn vintage boots…and you have the Lilith Pearl style!
