Since coming to Marquette, Michigan in 2001 as a student at Northern Michigan University, I've come to realize that I'm exactly where I should be. I feel incredibly lucky to consider the Upper Peninsula home. I love getting lost in the woods or on dirt roads, I love to fish whenever and wherever I can, and I love being in new places in the U.P. and United States.
Expressing myself creatively has always been a significant part of my life. In the past five or six years, I've focused primarily on photography. Aside from an introductory photography class, I'm self-trained. I read anything about photograhy I can get my hands on - books, blogs, etc. I love trying new techniques and I've come to love shooting with a prime (fixed focal length) lens. Composition instantly becomes more intentional when you have to take a few steps closer instead of simply zooming in or out…
