I love books and reading, especially vintage books and classic novels from great twentieth century writers. In my day job I'm a freelance writer and home energy expert; I advise people on how to save money by using less energy in the home, which also helps save the planet by reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
Books are how I relax, and I enjoy finding, reading and then passing on older editions. On my bookshelves, there are lots of authors to chose from, one or two craft books, and also some non fiction. I specialise in vintage books for children, and have some more than 100 years old.
I've just finished reading Solomons Seal, by Hammond Innes, so this is the latest addition to my selection of classic fiction. I've just finished reading Solomons Seal, by Hammond Innes, so this is the latest addition to my selection of classic fiction. Hammond Innes’ novels are generally the result of his travels in far away lands, and this one is set in the Solomon Islands near Papua New Guinea. It's a gripping tale about seafaring, sorcery, insurrection, and stamp collecting. What an odd sounding combination - but it produces a book that you will want to follow to its gripping end.
