Like many Etsy craftsfolk, I grew up making things for fun: I drew, painted, sewed my own clothes, and crocheted and knitted my own hats and scarves. Although I went to college (and grad school) for a career that used my head rather than my hands, I always relied on some sort of art -- usually painting -- to relieve my stress and make me feel whole again at the end of each semester.
At some point I don't quite remember, I inherited three vintage woodblocks from my grandfather -- not an artist, but a guy who liked to pick up random things at yard sales. I lugged them around for several years, not quite knowing what to do with them, but knowing that I wanted to try them out "someday." Finally, I bought the basic supplies, inked a block, pulled my first print, and . . . ahhhh . . . fell in love.
I find great solace...
