Almost any piece of paper or cardboard has possibility. In my mind a package of white card stock or copy paper or a large piece of poster board is a gift that has endless potential--a flock of paper birds, a sky full of stars, a multitude of angels, a wreath of paper leaves, or a vehicle for an inked linoleum block.

Drawing was a early pastime. My father was an engineer and extraordinary artist. I drew because I saw my father draw--little people, airplanes, trains, etc., the borders and inside covers of his childhood textbooks were animated with clever drawings. Time spent drawing and painting were pleasant, quiet times. My introduction to print making came in an excellent class, Art and Craft in the Elementary School, at Valparaiso University. Later, when I taught, I found creative uses for paper in classrooms and for teaching that ranged from bulletin boards to teaching geometry…
