Luke Gilvey's Profile

About

To all our new and returning customers, thank you so much for your support: Luke is home and the furnace is on and hot again.

We had a difficult year as both of us dealt with multiple hospitalizations (as well as deaths in the family, etc.), which ultimately forced us to close the shop; in August 2015 I was diagnosed with a late-onset type of epilepsy, while I continued to help Luke during his medical treatment and recovery. Fortunately we are both healthy again and feeling grateful to be back in the glass studio.

We deeply regret being unable to fill the last few orders placed before our shop's closing in mid-2015, and we hope that Luke's work and our exemplary 5-star record prior to his hospitalization speaks for itself.

Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any concerns regarding our current rating or have questions prior to placing an order with us. (We anticipate our rating will improve again once we start receiving new orders - so watch this space!)

Every order will receive a shipping ETA, and if for some reason you won't be getting your delivery in the typical timeframe (i.e. custom order, materials or equipment issues, etc) we will contact you WITHIN 48 HOURS. Our promise is to be personally involved in every purchase from start to finish, the way we are in the creation of the glass itself.

Again, we thank everyone who has been a loyal customer since we opened our doors on Etsy way back in 2011 (almost five years ago!), and to all the friends and followers we've met along the way.

ABOUT LUKE GILVEY:

Luke Gilvey is a second-generation glassblower and has been working with glass since he was 9 years old. He began training at his family's home studio in Dutchess County in 1989, and from age 15 has been working as a full-time independent glass artist. His creations have been exhibited in galleries across the country, including the renowned Corning Museum of Glass and the Firehouse Gallery at Hudson Beach Glass in Beacon, NY. Luke is most immediately recognized for his colorful line of glass pumpkins and gourds, which are coveted by collectors around the world. Each piece is individually hand-blown and annealed at the Gilvey family studio.
