Luz M. Vargas Sairitupac's Profile

About

I am an artisan jeweler from the beautiful country of Peru. Growing up, my family grew our own food, raised our own animals, and sustained ourselves on a small rural plot of agricultural land.

My passion for nature and art drove me to start my small business “Sumaq Sairi” makings and selling hand-crafted jewelry. In Quechua, my native Andean language, “Sumaq” means beautiful and “Sairi” means noble, and it is also short for my mother’s maiden name, Sairitupac, which is a last name descendant from the last Inca that governed the region of Peru.

All my jewelry pieces are one of a kind hand made by my uncle or me.

I design and make Eco-friendly jewelry by recycling orange peels, lime peels, melon seeds, and many other natural seeds.

My silver crochet jewelry pieces are my last creations. They are all made with the best quality of silver 9.99 and natural stones or seeds.

My tagua Jewelry is made from the palm tree seeds called tagua, and it is also a sustainable alternative to animal ivory. The tagua seeds are sun-dried for 4 to 6 months, then hand-carved, polished and dyed to obtain the beautiful bright colors.

My designs are inspired by the nature and culture I grew up in.

I hope to bring the most beautiful, unique, and Eco-friendly jewelry to you!
