Marlene Jo West's Profile
I learned how to sew from my mother, who comes from a long line of sewers. I starting sewing in earnest when my oldest son, now 33, was just six months old. When my youngest was grown and safely deposited at college, my fingers still needed to create. It was a smooth transition from clothing to quilting, and I have been quilting ever since.
My constant feline companion, Gus, has been a steady presence in my sewing room from the beginning. His clear gaze and slow blinks provide me with approval or disdain, depending on the quilt top I am shooing him off of. His favorite places to sleep are on my shoulder, lap, or current quilting project.
I now have ten grandchildren to spoil, plenty of closet space to store my fabric stash, and more color combinations and quilt block ideas knocking around in my brain than hours in the day to create them…
