Marilyn Wilber's Profile

About

Obsessive textile artist by trade. I knit, sew, quilt, upcycle, alter, rip and tear, embellish, design and create to my heart's content.

I was lucky enough to be born and raised in the great Pacific Northwest. Growing up on a ranch in Eastern Oregon, being creative has always been a way of life for me. My toys were products of nature and imagination. For example, my sister and I got playhouse brand toys for Christmas one year and Tonka Trucks. The next spring we built a whole community out in the sagebrush using ant hill gravel for the roads and blocks of sandstone (naturally square in formation), mud and sticks to build homes, wells, whatever we could imagine.

I'm a proud veteran of the 4-H program where wonderful local moms and dads helped me to be resourceful in Home Economics. I learned to knit, sew, tool leather, food storage strategies, agriculture, farming and livestock keeping.

Over the years I taught myself to quilt, tan hides, make shoes and boots, purify water, woodworking and generally what you would call 'survival' skills.

All these years have culminated into my dream of supporting my family solely on what I can make for them. So when you purchase something from me, you're getting 40 some-odd years of a lifestyle that is quickly becoming a historical thing of the past.

I live by the words, "Never give up. Never surrender". and Do what you love and love what you do.

Have a great life!
