About

Welcome to MagicByLeah - A place where fantasy and magic come to life in polymer clay.
I am often asked when I began sculpting. I don't really remember. I vaguely remember having some brown clay back in kindergarten. Brief images of liking to 'play' with it.
By middle school I had discovered Play-Dough with the amazing variety of colors offered at the time. I used to make little critters from my favorite movies. Alas the play-dough would dry out and crack, and my creatures were frequently broken.

I discovered polymer clay back in high school. First sculpey III and then premo. I was blown away by the variety of colors, strength of the clay, and it's ability to hold amazing and intricate details.
My favorite part was the fact that polymer clay sculptures can be cured in a standard home oven

I began by selling small teddy bears on ebay as a side business in college. A customer asked for a sock monkey and I was hooked.

When I joined the military back in 2005 I had to give up sculpting for the time being. But I still dreamed about sculpting, and kept a book of ideas for 'when I got out'

well... I returned from a middle eastern deployment in 2010 and settled in to my new civilian life and polymer clay studio.

I run a private tutoring company by day, but when the students are gone and the books put away, the clay comes out and the magic begins.

My favorite things to sculpt are magical creatures, animals, and sock monkeys. I really enjoy working on a small scale and often challenge myself to see just how tiny I can sculpt

I also love to be challenged. Quite a number of my best peices began as custom order requests and customer suggestions. No idea is too crazy and no design is too bizzare. If you can dream it, I can sculpt it (or try to sculpt it)
