I was born on the island of Maui, Hawaii of Portuguese decent and spent many days playing and snorkeling on the Lahaina shores along side my younger sister while my paternal Grandpa Ferreira fished and built imus (pits to cook our freshly caught fish) and taught us the native hawaiian ways.

These Hawaiian and sea life influences are extremely evident in my work.

My blue and green volcanic glazed clay sculptures are meant to give you the feel of deep sea-life, adorned with sea turtles, palm trees, crabs and many other aquatic creatures.

My jewelry is also sea inspired with hints of oyster shells, clay and glass.

Although my art influences stream back to Hawaiian shores, I have had the fortunate opportunity to live in Southern California exploring the pacific shores...with their crashing waves...along Newport and Huntington Beach.

While living in California, my maternal Grandpa Dunlap (Dr. John E. Dunlap) was my greatest motivator. He was determined to employ others who would instruct me on how to make my own clothing, shop in thrift stores for bargains so I would know how to upcycle materials into gifts of art and how to earn a living using these learned skills.

I believe that coastal art is an extremely important cultural aspect for all communities. "Coastal Art" was most definitely evident when I moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are numerous communities (Ocean Springs, Bay St. Louis, Biloxi, Pass Christian, Pascagoula to name a few) that celebrate renowned artists such as Walter Inglis Anderson, Peter Anderson and George Ohr. In my own words, "this coast has everything I need... art, beauty and southern soul."

I have called the beautiful Gulf Coast home since 1988, living in Biloxi with my family and immensely enjoying the coastal waters, tropical weather and warm hospitality of my many "southern" friends.

We now feature our family owned and operated alpaca farm with llama, alpacas, herd collinese, chickens, rabbits and organic gardening. :-)
