About

As long as I can remember I was playing with color. I always dreamed of being an professional artist - and that dream came true when I answered a 2 line ad in the New York Times - it turned out to be an ad for an artist trainee at Walt Disney Studios. Now at age 56 I realize that being an artist is more than being paid for your work. I love holding a brush - it gives me such a "high" and I feel connected in every sense.

Maria Bell is an freelance artist and photographer originally from New York. She is currently living in Oakville, Ontario, Canada with her husband, two children and two very tiny dogs, and she loves to travel to Australia and Greece at least once a year. Inspired by the whimsical world of children and animals, Bell's canvas has evolved from paint and brush to keypad and computer screen. Although she's developed her art form to comply with modern technology, her heart remains true to her pen and ink origins, beginning as an artist trainee at Walt Disney Studios in New York. Her work has been featured in Sacramento Magazine and SNAP Magazine.
