About

Our family has summered in the town of Lengby on Spring Lake since the late 1970s. Now three generations of us gather there every summer around the same bonfire pit that has drawn my adult children since they were in diapers!
The Old Property, as we call it, harbors an apple orchard, grape vines, a rhubarb patch, wild plum bushes, and a sprawling veggie garden. My preserves are made from the fruit harvested on this land that has NEVER been touched by chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Snapping turtles give this sanctuary their highest seal of approval every spring when they crawl from the lake shore up the steep bank to lay their eggs in the holes they dig in our orchard.

My shop's creamy wild rice soup mix is made with the harvest of Ojibwa tribal members who STILL collect their perennial crop by knocking the kernels with sticks into flat bottomed, non-motored boats, just as their ancestors have harvested it over the past 10,000 or so years! As an avocational archaeologist, I can vouch for these deep ancestral ties.
An offshoot of my passion for this field is seen in my Native ArtSoup shop that features indigenous art pieces I've been collecting since the mid 1970's from all over the Americas. This shop offers pottery, prints, weaving, carvings, sculptures, and beadwork. Also take a peek at my vintage jewelry shop. Many pieces are handmade; others are just there to show off their enduring bling.
The fudges in my shop have been family favorites for over four decades. They're a Christmastime essential worthy of sharing with you.
If something catches your eye, you can count on me for a speedy send-off.
THANKS for visiting my ETSY retirement gig!
