Mary Gallimore's Profile

About

I am a self-taught artist/designer with a lifelong passion for having my hands in or on a creative project. More often than not, several projects will be in progress simultaneously!

About

I am a self-taught artist/designer with a lifelong passion for having my hands in or on a creative project. More often than not, several projects will be in progress simultaneously!

My signature design literally began by doodling on the back of a high school notebook. Intuitive in composition, the random, yet structured design is composed freehand; each shape’s outline is drawn or painted, filled in and nested with the previous shape to create the puzzle motif that has become my trademark.
I do not use stencils, templates or tape.

My TABLEWARE collection is comprised of porcelain whiteware in simple silhouettes that act as the canvas to spotlight my composition and exemplify my belief that everyday things should be beautiful and add to the joy of living. Each piece is oven-finished, making the design permanent. To ensure its longevity, please avoid abrasives or cutting on the painted surface. Wash by hand.
The shapes for my lightweight & whimsical JEWELRY are originally drawn freehand then traced onto shrink plastic that's been coated with acrylic paint. Once they've been shrunk, they're coated with water-resistant varnish and linked together with metal jewelry findings which are lead- and nickel-free.
