About

I am an independent bead artist working in a small studio in our house in Minnesota. I run everything in my shop from treasure hunting, designing and fabricating the jewelry to taking the photography. I love the whole process!

My professional background is in the beading arts. I started out in sales and repairs, leading to teaching (which I love) and then to receiving and buying. My first two jewelry lines, the wire wrapped flowers and single crochet bracelets, were both original classes of mine that I started teaching in 2004. The flowers shortly became my signature design and I still can’t get enough of them today!

My academic background is in gemology, lapidary and metalsmithing. This helped create my obsession for gemstones! I’m constantly amazed by their structure and can’t get enough of those colors and facets! Although…

Although I decided being a bench jeweler wasn’t my path, I learned a lot that has been very valuable to my growth as a bead artist. I have always been a very detail oriented person, but the jewelry program really helped to refine my standards in quality craftsmanship. I always try to uphold those standards in my work and I hand pick my materials with the most discriminating eye!

Personally, I am a daydreaming romantic. I could spend all day just soaking up inspiration from our natural world around us and I always stop and smell the flowers! I’m definitely a modern flower child at heart and I feel that is expressed in my art. I like to use a lot of natural materials in my work, but my taste is too eclectic to be a purist. I can’t help but love the vibrant colors and unique shapes glass and other man made materials can give us. Instead, I like to try and keep all things balanced…natural yet funky, functional yet beautiful, colorful yet versatile, high quality yet affordable. I pride myself in being an honest and fair trader!
